“SLAMPPCon 2025 was successfully held on 08th February 2025 as a hybrid event at the Riviera Resort, Kallady, Batticaloa, Sri Lanka. This is the third conference organized by SLAMPP since 2018.”
SLMPPCon 2025 is an international conference dedicated to presenting innovative research in mycology and plant pathology. Attendees will engage in discussions on various sub-themes in plant pathology and mycology, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing among national, regional and global experts. The following sub-themes will be explored during the conference.
SLAMPP is a professional forum formed with the aim of promoting advancement of knowledge in Mycology and Plant Pathology in Sri Lanka and their dissemination and use in the management of plant health. The Association will also act as the official mouthpiece of country’s Mycologists and Plant Pathologists. SLAMPP is affiliated to the International Society of Plant Pathology (ISPP), Asian Mycological Association (AMA), and the Association of Asian Societies of Plant Pathology (AASPP).
We invite the academic and research community in Plant Pathology, Mycology and related disciplines around the country to submit abstracts for this symposium.
The Committee also invites those who have not still joined the SLAMPP to use this opportunity to become a member and enjoy the benefits and advantages by being a member. New members are always welcome to the Association.

Professor Jayantha Lal Ratnasekera
Professor Jayantha Lal Ratnasekera is a prominent Sri Lankan academic and the current Governor of the Eastern Province. He served as the Vice Chancellor of Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka from February 2017 to November 2023. His research interests span renewable energy sources, environmental chemistry, theoretical chemistry, quality assurance in higher education, and science education. In addition to his academic contributions, Professor Ratnasekera has been an active trainer and resource in various training programs and workshops. Well-known as a freelance journalist, author, and translator, he has contributed extensively to the public discourse on scientific and educational matters.
Prof Paul W. J. Taylor
Professor Paul W.J. Taylor, an Honorary Professorial Fellow at the University of Melbourne, Australia, is renowned for his 29-year contribution to agricultural sciences, particularly in plant pathology, biotechnology, and biosecurity. He has held leadership roles, including Associate Dean International, fostering collaborations with Southeast Asian countries. With over 165 journal papers, 22 book chapters, and mentorship for 12 Master's and 40 Ph.D. students, his research spans fungal pathogen genomics, soil health, and biosecurity. He has extensively studied Colletotrichum species in crops like capsicum, citrus, and native plants. Professor Taylor's impactful contributions have been recognized globally, earning fellowships from Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia.
